Some other names which my father recollects and who flew with him on 207 and 630 squadrons are frank dougal, Archie Leach and Frank Smith.

I am trying to track down friends who flew with my father Jim Stewart between 1939 and 1945. He was with 207 and 630 squadrons and was a navigator. Dad is 87 now and still batting on with his failing memory so I was hoping to revive his interest in life by hooking him up with some wartime chums who may still be alive and like-minded. His only immediate recollection was of Dick Grange who fell in love with a Canadian girl and went over there to marry her. If anybody remembers dad I would be very happy to hear from them and to put them in touch.

FAO David Haig

The lostbombers.co.uk website has your relatives aircraft as LE-J on a mission to Brunswick. It lists the crew as:
P/O V.W.Brown RAAF KIA Sgt D.B.Haig KIA W/O K.A.Sinclair RAAF KIA Sgt T.W.Connor KIA Sgt W.J.Saxby KIA Sgt J.Binnie KIA F/S W.I.Taylor RAAF KIA

I cannot vouch for the correctness of the information but its a start.

I am trying to find more information about my Dad's cousin David Haig, the man I'm named after. CWGC lists him as flying with 630 sqn and being killed on 23 May 1944. Service No 1822622 Sergeant RAF Volunterr Reserve. He has no known grave & is listed on the Runnymede Memorial. Family legend says his aircraft was last seen leaving the coast of Holland. Can anyone confirm which raid he was killed & if possible his aircraft & crew mates.

Niece of ACW Estelle Scaroni, engaged to Flt. Lt. John Joseph (Jack) Mahoney, of Queensland, Australia. Jack's plane was shot down in a raid on Brunswick on 23rd May 1944. Estelle was killed in Australia some 5 weeks later.

To Alan Chambers. I am the brother of Sgt. Thomas Austin Fox who was killed in March 1944. He was the rear air gunner in Lancaster ND530 of 630 Squadron and I would like to know more about his sorties. I have been to the museum at East Kirkby and they were able to show me details of the sorties he made with his own crew but clearly he did others, presumably filling in for lost gunners. His log book would have shown them all but I don't think it was ever returned to the family and in all probability it was destroyed in 1960 after the Air Ministry gave notice and destroyed over 6000 shelf footage of them.
If your database research could help I would be very grateful.

To all. I am working on a database that records operational sorties flown during WW2, primarily the Lancaster. To date some 34 squadrons are covered fully, amounting to 134,000 sorties, 124,000 of which are Lancaster. My latest project is recording 630sq, though this is going to take about two months to complete. All requests for info are welcome and I will do what I can to satisfy such requests. It would also be worth enquiring about other squadrons too.
